Adel's Wine Cellar has been one of San Francisco's best-kept secrets since 1983.
It won't be a secret for long, however, now that our inventory is out on the
Internet. We will always remain a little neighborhood wine store at heart, but
we have a lot of great wine to sell! For those of you who count on us to get
some Kistler, Bryant Family, Araujo, and the newest allocated wines, don't
worry, we'll take care of you as well as we always have. For the rest of you,
please take some time to browse our collection - you'll be amazed at what you
find (there might even be some Kistler left for you too).
We certainly have a lot of rare and expensive wines, but we also have some great
value wines that you won't find anywhere else. Shopping in the store (and now
browsing online) is a bit like a treasure hunt and there are gems for every
budget. We have stored many of these well-priced wines in our cellar (ideal
conditions of course) so that our customers can have the opportunity to sample
aged wines without having to spend a ton of money or worrying about storing the
wines themselves. This isn't the most profitable strategy but we would rather
offer something unique than worry about turnover, turnover, turnover.
We may never have all the latest bells and whistles on our website, but we give
everyone the kind of personal service you can only get from a neighborhood store
owner that has known you for years. There aren't many places where twenty year
old burgundy (DRC no less) gets opened for everyone just because an old friend
stopped in to say hello. Five hundred dollar bottles don't get popped everyday,
but Adel will always be a wine lover first and a wine retailer second. Strangely
enough, our customers don't complain when Adel would rather drink something with
them now than sell it to someone else later.
Those of you reading this from far away have every right to be jealous of our
walk-in customers. You'll have to visit us in San Francisco if you want to share
a great bottle of wine with Adel, but we've put almost our entire inventory
online and we hope you will find some treasures that you can share with your
friends and family. If you are looking for some ultra-rare wines and don't see
them listed on our site, don't be afraid to send us a wish list and we'll try
our best to find them for you.
